The Metro Rec Plex is the premier full-service fitness center and sports complex in the St. Louis Metro East area. Open since early 2017, the Metro Rec Plex has taken advantage of its ideal, easy access location and top tier programs to grow into a one stop fitness facility for the entire family and all levels.

Anchored by two indoor swimming pools, two NHL-sized ice rinks and the top of industry weight and cardio equipment, the Metro Rec Plex truly offers something for everybody. In addition, we are home to all McKendree University’s ice hockey and aquatics programs where tomorrow’s professional athletes use our facilities to train and compete.

Offering more than 40 group fitness classes ranging from aqua fitness and Zumba to spin and yoga, our training staff will help you achieve your goals in a fun, safe setting. If you’re looking for more of a one-on-one experience, our personal trainers will work with you every step along your fitness journey to ensure proper nutrition, technique and even give you that extra little push every now and then.

Our Plex Swim and Plex Skate programs help participants develop (or improve) their swimming and ice-skating skills and provide the opportunity to transition that experience into competitive swim or hockey teams if desired. Designed for all ages and levels of experience, Plex Swim and Plex Skate are unique to the Metro Rec Plex and extremely popular. As part of our commitment to keeping today’s youth active and engaged while benefitting from the many benefits of team competition, we are home to the Metro Rec Plex Seahawks and Southern Illinois Icehawks which are competitive youth swim and hockey leagues.
